2 sticks of butter
3 cups of sugar
1/2 cups shortening
5 eggs
3 cups sifted cake flour
1 cup milk (at room temperature)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, 1 cup sugar, shortening and the rest of the sugar.This can be done in a food processor or mixer. Do remainder of recipe by hand mixing with a wooden spoon. Add 1 egg at a time. Alternately add flour and milk, starting and ending with flour. Add baking powder to last flour mixture. Add vanilla and lemon juice. START IN A COLD OVEN. Bake at 350 º for 1 to 1 1/4 hours.
