1 1/4 cup whole milk
2 egg yolks, beaten
1/4 plus 2/3 cup sugar, separate
5 T cornstarch, separated 2T for custard,3T for berries
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 T butter
4 cups blueberries
1 cup water
1 T lemon juice
1 deep dish pie crust, I use Pillsbury refrigerated
pie crusts, not frozen

in a 2 qt saucepan, mix milk, yolks, 1/4 cup sugar, and 2 T cornstarch. Cook over med. heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring often. Stir in vanilla and butter. Transfer custard to a shallow dish, cover and refrigerate 2 hours.
Meanwhile, in 3 qt sauce, stir 1 cup berries with 2/3 cup sugar, 3 T cornstarch and 1 cup water. Heat bo boiling, over high heat. Cook 2 min. until thickened. Stir in lemon juice, 1 T butter. Cool, Stir in remaining berries. Spread custard in pie shell, top with berry mixture. Refrigerate 3 hours to set.
