3/4 cup sugar
1 T. cornstarch
1 t. lemon juice
2 1/2 cup cherries or blueberry and blackberry combination
3 T. shortening
1 cup flour
1 T. sugar
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/2 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400º. Mix sugar, cornstarch, and 1/2 cup water in 2 quart saucepan. Stir in fruit and lemon juice. Cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Pour into ungreased 2 quart casserole and keep fruit hot in oven. Cut shortening into flour, sugar, and baking powder until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk. Drop dough by 6 spoonfuls onto hot fruit mixture. Bake until topping is golden brown, 25-30 minutes.
