1 c. and 2 Tbsp. margarine or butter, softened
2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
4 tsp. vanilla
3 c. quick oats
2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped walnuts

Preheat oven at 350º. Cream 1 cup margarine or butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs and 2 tsp. vanilla. Stir oats, flour, 1tsp. salt and baking soda into creamed mixture. Press 2/3 of mixture into a greased 15 x 10 x 1 inch cookie pan. In a sauce pan, combine sweetened condensed milk, 2 Tbsp. margarine, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate is melted. Remove from heat, stir in nuts and 2 tsp. vanilla. Spread over oat mixture. Sprinkle with remaining oat mixture. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Cut into squares.
