1 14 oz bag of caramels
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 18 oz pkg german chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup softened butter or margarine
1 6oz bag chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine caramels and 1/3 cup milk, heat until caramel is melted. Mix cake mix, butter and the other 1/3 cup of milk until dough sticks together. Press half of cake mixture into greased cake pan 9x13. Bake for 6 minutes at 350º. Sprinkle chocolate chips over cake. Pour caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Crumble remaining cake mixture over cake. Bake another 15-18 minutes.
