6 pounds spareribs
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup light molasses
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons garlic powder

Directions:
Directions:
Trim excess fat off ribs. Put in kettle and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Drain off fat and leave ribs in pan.
In skillet heat butter and oil and saute onion until golden. Stir in ketchup, molasses, lemon juice and garlic powder. Simmer 10-15 minutes. Pour sauce over ribs and refrigerate over night if possible.

On serving day if using barbeque, place ribs 8 inches above gray coals and cook slowly 30 minutes turning often.
In oven, bake ribs uncovered one hour at 350 degrees, turning occasionally.
