1/3 cup cocoa, 1 stick margarine,2 cups sugar,1 small can evaporated milk, 1 teaspoon white karo syrup,dash salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
melt margarine in heavy pot on medium heat, add cocoa, stir until fully melted. add sugar and other ingredients. bring to a boil. cook appox 5 minutes for " messed up" (sugared) icing. If you prefer soft smooth icing cook only 1 minute. (then this would be Aunt Jeanettes recipe)

when nana and mamal make this cake they made very small layers...a long time ago these little thin layers were made in a cast iron skillet on top of stove. This is a family favorite!
