4 T. fat (oil)
2 T. flour
2-3 C. milk ( or water from brown gravy)

Directions:
Stir fat and flour in skillet to make a rue (paste). let brown a little to give it good nutty flavor. I add salt, pepper and a pinch of white sugar to the paste while browning. (salt and pepper to taste, start with just a little, you can add more as you add in the milk (or water) or let people add their own as they eat it. Slowly add in the milk or water, stirring constantly to help prevent lumping. It will thicken up, stop adding milk as it reaches the consistency that you desire.
