5 medium apples peeled and cut into cubes
2 cups sugar

Put the apples into a large bowl and cover with the sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt 1 cup margarine (2 sticks)

Sift together:

3 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. allspice

Directions:

Blend the cup of melted margarine and two beaten eggs into the apple/ sugar mixture .
Add the dry ingredients, mixing well by hand (do not use mixer).
Add 1 cup raisins and 1 cup chopped nuts.

Pour into a greased 13x9 pan.

Bake at 350° for approximately 45 minutes but just long enough for an inserted toothpick to come out clean.

Cool at least 10 minutes.
