Ingredients:
Ingredients:
In a 2 quart sauce pan over a slow fire stir:
2 c. baking soda
1 c. cornstarch
1 1/2 c. cold water
Add the water slowly to prevent lumps and stir till smooth.

Directions:
Directions:
Cook 6 minutes. Stop when it looks like mashed potatoes and spread the dough on a cooke sheet to cool. Cover with a damp cloth to keep it moist.

Knead 10 minutes.

Divide the clay into batches when it is pliable and ad food coloring unless you decide to paint it later. Store in airtight containers.

These decorations will harden in 24 hours if exposed to the air at room temperature or if they're left overnight in an oven that was first preheated to 275º and then turned off. If wanted quicker, bake the clay in a 200º oven on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 2 hours, cool in the oven for 2 hours longer, removing when the decorations are hard underneath.
