Dough:
2 cups warm water
2 pkg dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1/4 cup margarine (melted)
6 1/2 cups of flour

Filling:
1 1/2 lbs. Hamburger
1/2 cup chopped onion
3 cups shredded cabbage
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Dash of Tabasco

Directions:
Directions:
Mix water, yeast, sugar, salt and stir till disolved. Add egg and margarine. Stir in flour. Put in frig for 4 hours (covered loosely).

Filling: Brown hamberger and onion. Drain grease. Add cabbage and water and seasonings. Simmer 15 - 20 minutes. Cool completely before putting on dough. (You can also add cheese a slice per runza with the filling)

Roll dough into oblong shape - cut into 16 squares. Divide hamberger mix between the squares. Pull four sides up and press edges together. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 20 minutes at 350.

This recipe is a family favorite in the Midwest, and though the name runza is trademarked in Nebraska and wherever you find the Runza Restaurant food chain it would be like trademarking the word hamburger. We enjoy dipping in ketchup.
