6 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. dark molasses
2/3 c. cold water

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift together: flour, baking soda, salt, allspice, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon in bowl and set aside.

2. Use wooden spoon to stir and press brown sugar and shortening together against side of large mixing bowl.

3. Add molasses and water, stir and mix well.

4. Add sifted ingredients 1 cup at a time; mix well.. dough will get stiff - keep mixing until ALL dry ingredients are incorporated together. Cover bowl and chill dough for 1 hour.

5. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to approx. 1/4 inch thickness and cut out.

6. Bake in preheated oven @ 350º on greased cookie sheets for 12-15 minutes.
