"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 oz. cream cheese (room temp)
2 Tbsp. melted butter
1 1/2 c. cooked chicken cubed or shredded
1/2 tsp. salt or less to taste
Dash of pepper
handful of chopped green onions
8 oz. can crescent rolls

Directions:
Directions:
Blend cream cheese and margarine until smooth. Add remaining ingredient and mix well. Separate rolls into 4 rectangles and pinch together the center perforation. Spoon in 1/4 of mixture onto center of rectangles. Pull 4 corners to center, pinching the seams as you do to form a square. It doesn't matter if they look a little misshapen. They puff out a little as they cook. Place on cookie sheet. Brush top of squares with beaten eggs and sprinkle bread crumbs on top.

Bake @ 350º for 20 to 25 minutes.

Personal Notes:
You can cook the chicken and make the filling the day before for easier prep. These are great to make with leftover turkey or roasted chicken. Sandra has even used canned chicken. They are good cold and can be cut in small triangles to serve as hors d'oeuvres. I don't use the butter, beaten egg or bread crumbs in this recipe at all. I just sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top before putting in the oven. I double my recipe by using the whole box of cream cheese, additional chicken, green onions and 2 cans of crescent rolls to make 8 chicken squares. These can be played with by adding cumin to the filling and eaten with salsa. Or add Mrs. Dash Lemon Pepper to the filling and it gives it a different flavor. These are yummy and easy to make!
