1 1/2 CUPS SUGAR, PLUS EXTRA FOR TOPPING
3 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
2 TSPS VANILLA
1 LB UNSALTED BUTTER

Preheat oven to 350º

Cream butter, add the sugar and beat. Add flour a little at a time and then add the vanilla. The batter will be very thick.

Make about 9 big balls of cookie dough per ungreased cookie sheet (total 4 cookie sheets).
Place extra sugar on a plate for topping. Press palm of hand on plate of sugar and then press down to flatten each ball of dough with fingers. Spread them to form ridges. Each cookie should flatten to approximately 3 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick.

Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
