2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup soft butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Directions:
Refrigerate ungreased cookie sheets until ready to use. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift flour with salt; set aside. In a large bowl, using electric mixer at medium speed, beat butter, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla until smooth and fluffy. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture, stirring with wooden spoon until smooth and well combined. Fill cookie press with dough. Then make one or both of the following shapes. Wreath: use star disk. Force dough onto cold cookie sheet in a 12 inch strip; cut strip into 3 parts. Form each part into a circle. Decorate wreaths with cinnamon candies and bits of angelica. Christmas trees: Use tree disk; for each, stand press upright on cold cookie sheet, force out dough to form a tree. Reverse handle of press slightly to cut off dough. Sprinkle trees with non-pareils. Bake cookies 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden. Remove to wire racks - let cool.
