1 pound lean ground beef
1 cup soft bread crumbs
1 cup milk
1 egg, well beaten
2 chopped medium-sized onions
2 teaspoons salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup hot water
1 tablespoon flour
2 tablespoons cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 8 ingredients (beef through nutmeg); mix well. Form mixture into 1-inch balls. Heat 1/4 cup oil in a skillet. Brown meatballs on all sides. Remove from pan; keep warm. Add hot water to drippings in skillet, stir to mix. Put flour in a small bowl; stir in cold water. Mix well and stir in hot mixture. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thick. Return meatballs to skillet, containing flour/dripping sauce. Cover and cook 30 minutes adding more water, if necessary. (I fry the meatballs with a little butter for added flavor.)

Serve this with sweet and sour red cabbage and Swedish Vegetable Salad. In the past I served this for Christmas Eve.
