Boil together for 5 minutes in large saucepan:
2 c water
2c sugar
2 c oatmeal
1/2 c shortening
1/2 c butter
1c raisins
1 tsp each: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves & salt
Cool and then add the following:
3 eggs, beaten
3 c flour (can use whole wheat)
1 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder

Bake on greased sheet at 375º for about 10 minutes.
