1 1-lb box of Crisco (about 2 1/4 cups)
2 cups and a bit brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups and a bit flour
2 tsp baking soda
dash or two of salt
5 1/2 cups oatmeal
2 cups raisins or chocolate chips or some of both
2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and brown sugar; add eggs. Add flour, soda and salt; mix well. Then add oatmeal, raisins, chocolate chips and vanilla.

Drop by spoonfuls onto baking sheets. Bake at 350ºF for 7 to 9 minutes. Let sit on baking sheets for 5 minutes before removing to racks to cool.
