4 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp. salt
4 tbs. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tbs. Crisco shortening
2 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups raisins
1 tbs. caraway seeds (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 375º F.
2) Mix dry ingredients, cut in Crisco.
3) Add caraway seeds.
4) Stir in buttermilk and milk -- want it to be sticky but not too wet.
5) Place in round cake pan, greased with Crisco
6) Bake at 375º F. for 10 minutes. Then lower oven to 350º and bake for 1 hour.
7) Brush with milk while hot.
