Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup yellow corn meal
1 cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup whole milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg

Directions:
Directions:
In the medium bowl, place the corn meal and flour, measure out sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix the dry ingredients.
In the separate bowl, pour whole milk and canola oil and mix with a large egg. Whisk the liquids until they were smooth and pour over the dry ingredients.
After whisking briefly, pour the batter into a greased 8x8 inch pan.
Bake in a 400°F oven for twenty minutes. By plunging a bamboo skewer into the middle of the cornbread, check to see if anything stuck to the skewer as it comes out: if it comes out clean, then the cornbread is done.
