French Onion Soup Recipe

2 c. sweet onions, coarsely chopped
2 T. butter
2 14.5-oz. cans beef broth or stock
crusty bread slices
8 oz. Swiss cheese, shredded

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions in butter until soft and translucent. Add broth and bring to boil. Simmer for ten minutes. Spoon into oven-proof bowls, insuring even distribution of onions. Cut bread into shape of bowl and place on top of soup. Add cheese on top of bread. Broil just until cheese is melted. Serve hot. American or guerrier cheese can be substituted for Swiss.
