4 qts. apples of any variety (except Red Delicious)
Very small amount of water.
Sugar and cinnamon to taste

Directions:
Wash and quarter apples, removing the core and seeds. Do not pare apples. Put in a 5 - 6 qt. cooker with a very small amount of water. Cook until apples are tender and put them through an applesauce sieve or Foley foodmill. Add sugar and cinnamon to taste. (Some apples need very little sugar).

When the Mills girls were growing up, they only knew about homemade applesauce. When our freezer supply was gone, I would try to serve them the canned variety but they knew the difference! Applesauce freezes well to be used and given as a gift all winter.
