1 cup warm water
3 pkgs. yeast
2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
flour

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400
Place warm water in large bowl warm mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast over top of water, stir until dissolved. Add flour gradually, until soft firm dough. Remove dough from bowl to lightly floured board and knead for 5 minutes. Shape into balls. Place into greased bowl and cover for 30 minutes. Fill large pan half full with water and add 2 tsp. bakaing soda bringing water to a simmer. Punch dough down gently and roll into 6" squares. Cut intofinger sized strips with a dull knife. Twist into pretzel shape and pinch ends together. Slip pretzel 1 at a time into simmering water. Let rise to the surface and remove with slotted spoon. Place on a greased cookie sheet and brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle with coarse slat and bake 15 minutes or until golden brown.
