1 c. soft shortening (part butter)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. ripe mashed bananas (about 2)
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 t. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts

Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 oz. cream cheese
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
2 cups powdered sugar
1 Tblsp. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix well shortening , sugar, and eggs. Mix in bananas, buttermilk and vanilla. Add flour, soda and salt. Blend in nuts. Chill 1 hour. Drop by rounded tablespoons 2" apart onto lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes (longer if using air-bake pan). If making bars, bake 20 minutes in a 11 X 17" pan.

Frosting. Mix all ingredients together and frost the cookies or bars. If it seems too thin, put in more powdered sugar.
