1/2 CUP MILK
1/4 CUP SHORTENING
1/4 CUP BUTTER
1/2 CUP SUGAR
1/4 TSP. SALT
1/2 TSP. VANILLA
1/2 CUP COARSELY CHOPPED NUTS

IN A SAUCEPAN, COOK CAKE FLOUR AND MILK UNTIL THICK PASTE FORMS (APPX. 10 MIN.) COOK UNTIL LUKEWARM. CREAM SHORTENING, BUTTER, SUGAR AND SALT. ADD PASTE AND BEAT UNTIL FLUFFY. FOLD IN 1/2 TSP. VANILLA AND NUTS. USE 1/3 AMOUNT FOR CAKE FILLING. BLEND IN 1 CUP SIFTED POWDERED SUGAR FOR REST OF CAKE.
