1/2 cup water
Heaping cup of brown sugar
Pinch of cream of tartar
1 Tblsp. vinegar
2 Tblsp. butter
3 cups Puffed rice cereal.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together water, brown sugar, cream of tartar and vinegar in a large kettle. Boil for 10 minutes, Then stir in butter, and continue boiling until it reaches 300º on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage) when a little dropped in cold water hardens like glass. Flavor to taste. Take off burner and add puffed rice. Stir until all the grains are coated. Pour out into buttered pan and smooth to desired thickness. Let cool and cut or break into pieces.
