½ cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
3 large ripe bananas, mashed
1 cup chopped nuts (we usually use walnuts or pecans)

Directions:

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Mix in sifted dry ingredients. Add nuts and bananas. Pour into greased and floured 9X5X3 loaf pan and bake at 350º for approximately 60 minutes. Check with a toothpick; it should come out clean when done cooking.

I love this recipe because it has been in my family for 75 years. We usually make this recipe when the bananas are super-duper ripe. The bread is soft and sweet but has a little crunch from the nuts. It is so easy to make that I help my mom bake it!
