2/3 cp butter, softened
1 3/4 cps granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 1/4 cps water
4 oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 3/4 cps flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda

Chocolate Filling;
6 oz german sweet chocolate
2 tbsps sugar
2 tsps vanilla extract

cream filling;
3 cps heavy whipping cream
2 tbsps granulated sugar
2 tbsps vanilla extract

Topping:
1 cp cherry pie filling
3 cps sliced almonds, toasted or crumbs of your choice

Directions:
Directions:
1) In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2) Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
3) Beat in water just until blended.
4) In a microwave, melt chocolate; stir until smooth.
5) Stir in vanilla until blended.
6) Combine the flour, baking powder and baking soda; add to cream mixture alternating with chocolate mixture beating well after each addition.
7) Pour into 4 9-inch round greased and floured baking pans.
8) Bake 350f for 15 to 20 mins or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
9) Cool for 10 mins before removing the pans to wire rack to cool completely.
10) For chocolate filling; in microwave, melt chocolate, stir until smooth.
11) Stir in butter until smooth.
12) Add almonds.
13) For cream filling; in a small bowl, beat cream until it begins to thicken.
14) Add sugar and vanilla; beat until soft peaks form.
15) To assemble, Place one cake on a serving platter; spread with 1/4 th of chocolate filling and 1/4 th of cream filling.
16) Repeat layers twice.
17) Top with remaining cake and chocolate filling.
18) Place 1 1/2 cps of the remaining filling in a large pastry bag with star pastry tip.
19) Pipe around edge of cake in shell design.
20) Fill center with cherry pie filling.
21) Spread remaining cream filling over sides of cake; press almonds into sides.
22) Store in refrigerator.
