6 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups of any other flour-white, corn, soy, wheat germ, etc.
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup oil
1 cup applesauce
4 1/4 cups buttermilk ( I have used soured milk, made by adding lemon juice or vinegar-about 1T. per cup, let sit to thicken)

Directions:

Heat oven to 350º. Grease and flour 3 bread pans.
Mix ingredients well and divide between 3 pans. Bake for 1 hour, or until toothpick comes out clean. Cover with foil last 10 minutes if it is browning too fast.

On of mom's healthy phases was to cook with whole wheat. This really is delicious! This freezes well and makes wonderful toast. (spread with homemade jam!).
