1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup softened butter/margarine
2 eggs
1½ teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups flour
12 oz chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugars, butter, eggs, and vanilla.
When mixed smoothly, gradually add baking soda, salt, and flour, then mix well. Mix in chocolate chips.
Drop onto greased baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes. Remove from baking sheets immediately and cool on wire racks. (Yields 54 cookies.)

** 2 cups raisins, coconut, or chopped walnuts may be substituted for the chocolate chips.

Jordie's Version: If you want these to be truly awesome and super-chewy, remove them from the oven while they are still slightly doughy and let them harden on the tray. Then gently lift them off with a spatula and let them cool. Voila! The best chocolate chip cookies ever!
