1 c butter, soft
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tarter

Directions:
Directions:
mix butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, & almond, blend in dry ingredients.
chill 2-3 hrs
roll 3/16" thick and cut out
sprinkle with sugar or frost after baking.
bake 375º for 7-8 min- light brown on edges

I loved to bake Christmas cutout cookies with my mom! Sheryl remembers using this recipe to make Santa Claus face cutouts. We covered his beard in coconut. Mom added face details with her little tubes of frosting. I did this with my kids for years, too.
