4 c. cabbage, cut or broken (uncooked)(or broccoli)
2/3 to 1 c. grated cheese or broken pieces
2 c. medium thick white sauce (2 c. milk, 4 tbsp. flour, 3 tbsp. butter)
1 tsp. salt
pepper to taste
1/2 c. fine or 1 c. pieces buttered bread crumbs

Cook cabbage or broccoli in water until soft. Place in ungreased casserole in layers; cabbage, cheese, white sauce. Top with buttered bread crumbs. Bake at 350º for about 25 minutes or until heated through.
