6 cups cucumbers (very thinly sliced)
1 lb. onion (approx 2 vidalia)
1/4 cup salt
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
2 cups cider vinegar

Mix cucumbers, onions and salt. Cover and let stand for 3 hours. Mix remaining ingredients in large pot. Bring slowly to boiling point, then boil 5 minutes. Drain cucumbers and onions in a colander, rinse well with cold water. Add to hot syrup and heat to just below boiling point. Spoon into hot sterilized jars. Fill with cooking syrup leaving 1/8 inch space and seal. Put in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
