3 egg whites
1/3 cp finely crushed saltines, divided (about 10)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1/8 tsp salt
1 cp granulated sugar
1/2 cp chopped pecans, toasted
4 oz german sweet chocolate, chopped
2 tbsps butter
4 cps halved fresh strawberries
1 cp heavy whipping cream
2 tbsps confectioners sugar
Directions:
Directions:
1) Place egg whites in a large bowl; let stand for room temp for 30 mins.
2) Sprinkle 2 tbsps cracker crumbs into a greased 9 inch pie plate, set aside.
3) Add vanilla, cream of tartar, and salt to egg whites.
4) Beat on med speed until soft peaks form.
5) Gradually beat in sugar, 2 tbsps at a time, on high until stiff glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved.
6) Fold in pecans and remaining cracker crumbs.
7) Spread evening onto bottom and up sides of prepared pan.
8) Bake 300f for 45 mins. Turn oven off and do not open the door; let cool in the oven over night.
9) In a small heavy saucepan or microwave, melt chocolate and butter; stir until smooth.
10) Drizzle over crust.
11) Let stand for 15 mins or until set.
12) Top with strawberries.
13) In a chilled small bowl, beat cream until it begins to thicken.
14) Add confectioners sugar; beat until soft peaks form.
15) Spoon over berries. Refrigerate leftovers.
