½ Cup Butter
2 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs
2 ½ Cup Flour
1 ½ tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
½ tsp Nutmeg
¼ tsp Allspice
1 ½ Cup Applesauce
½ Cup Raisins (if desired)
½ Cup chopped pecans (if desired)

Frosting
½ Cup Maple Syrup
3 Tbsp Butter, softened
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
Few grains of salt

Directions:

Cake
Cream butter, gradually add sugar, creaming until light. Add eggs, beating well after each egg. Mix together dry ingredients and add alternately to creamed mixture with applesauce. Add raisins and nuts, if desired. Turn batter into greased and lightly floured 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes. Cool in pan.

Frosting
Cook syrup slowly for 3 minutes, cool. Cream butter part of sugar. Add syrup alternating with remaining sugar, beat well. Add salt, beat.
