2 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsps shortening (margarine)
1 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients. Work in shortening with tips of fingers or a pastry blender. Add liquid gradually, mixing with a fork or spoon.

Drop spoonfuls of dough onto stew, allowing space for dumplings to rise. Cover pot tightly. Boil for 12 to14 minutes.
Do not lift lid off pot while dumplings are cooking and do not allow liquid to stop boiling.
When dumplings are cooked remove from top of stew to keep their lightness.
