1 cup raisins
1 cup margarine or shortening
2 cups brown sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 cups quick oatmeal
1 tsp baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º. Boil raisins in one cup water for five minutes, drain and set aside. Cream the margarine, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix well flour, cinnamon, salt, nuts and oatmeal. Dissolve baking soda in four tablespoons warm water. Mix dry ingredients into creamed mixture alternating with soda and water. Add raisins and mix well. Drop dough on ungreased baking sheet with a tablespoon. Bake for 12 minutes. Do not over bake. Makes 4 dozen cookies.
