1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 bottle (8 oz) Ortega Thick & Smooth Taco Sauce
3/4 cup water
1 can (4 oz) diced green chilies
1 pkg (1.25 oz) taco seasoning mix
1 pkg (12 count) yellow or white corn taco shells; broken and divided
2 cups (8 oz) shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 can corn, drained (optional)
garnish suggestions: chopped tomatoes, sliced green onions, corn kernels, sour cream
Directions:

Preheat oven to 375º. Grease 7x11-inch baking dish.
Cook beef and onion in large skillet until beef is browned; drain. Stir in taco sauce, water, chilies, corn and seasoning mix; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook, stirring occasionally for 3 to 4 minutes. (You can add garlic salt to meat mixture if desired.) Layer half of broken shells on bottom of prepared baking dish. Cover with half of meat mixture; sprinkle with one cup of cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is melted. Garnish as desired. Makes 8 servings.
