oil or shortening for deep frying
1 cp bottled barbecue sauce
1 cp pkg pancake mix
2 tbsps cornmeal
1 tbsp sugar
8 hotdogs
8 wooden skewers

Directions:
Directions:
1) Slowly heat oil (at least 1 inch deep) in electric skillet or deep fat fryer or heavy saucepan, to 375f on deep frying thermometer.
2) In small saucepan, gently heat barbecue sauce.
3) Meanwhile, combine pancake mix, cornmeal, sugar and 2/3 cp water.
4) Beat with electric mixer or wooden spoon just until smooth.
5) Let batter stand about 10 mins, to thicken.
6) Dip hotdogs into batter, to coat lightly all over.
7) In hot oil, fry hotdogs, a few at a time, 2 to 3 mins, or until crisp and golden brown all over.
8) Lift out with slotted spoon; drain well on paper towels.
9) Insert wooden skewer into one end of each hotdog.
10) Serve at once, with barbecue sauce for dipping.
