For each quart jar add:
1 head fresh dill
2 or 3 cloves garlic (depending on size)
1 small red or green hot pepper (optional)

Directions:
Select fresh firm cucumbers: wash and pack in quart jars. Add the dill, garlic and hot peppers to each jar.
Bring to a boil:
2 quarts water
1 quart Speas distilled or cider vinegar
1 cup non-iodized salt
Pour hot solution over cucumbers and seal. Pickles will be ready in 3 to 4 weeks depending on size of the cucumbers..
For plain dill pickles, the garlic buds can be omitted.
