1 c butter
2 c flour
1/3 c whipping cream
granulated sugar

Creamy butter filling:

1/4 c softened butter
3/4 c sifted confectioners sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla
(If desired, add tint for color)

Directions:
Mix butter, cream and flour thoroughly. Chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough 1/8" thick on lightly floured board. Cut into small rounds (soda bottle caps are a perfect size). Transfer to wax paper heavily sprinkled with sugar, turning to coat both sides. Place on un-greased cookie sheet and prick 4 places with a fork. Bake 7-9 minutes or until slightly puffy. Remove to rack to cool. Spread filling on one cookie piece and top with another.

Creamy butter filling:

Blend butter, confectioners sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Add coloring if desired.
