Ingredients:
Crust:

2 cups sifted flour

1 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup shortening

5 to 7 tablespoons ice water

Filling:

1 cup chopped pecans

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/3 cup margarine or butter, melted

6 cups apples, peeled and sliced

1/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons and 1 teaspoon flour

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

In a 9-inch pie pan, combine pecans, brown sugar and margarine. Spread evenly over bottom of pan.

Prepare pie crust by sifting flour and salt together. Cut shortening into dry ingredients using a knife or pastry blender.

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of water over the mixture. Repeat with more water until all is moistened. Form dough into a ball and roll out into 2 crusts, 1/8 inch thick.

Directions:
Directions:
Place bottom crust over pecan mixture in pan.

In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg; mix lightly. Spoon mixture into pie-crust lined pan. Top with second crust and flute; cut slits in several places.

Place pan on foil or cookie sheet during baking to guard against spillage and bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.

Cool pie upright in pan for 5 minutes. Place serving plate over pie; invert. Carefully remove pan. (Some nuts may remain in pan. Replace them on pie using a knife.)

Cool at least 1 hour before serving and garnish as desired
