1 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 c. flour
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 t. coconut extract
1 can or pkg.flake coconut

Glaze
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Sift dry ingredients and add. Add buttermilk, coconut extract and can of coconut. Bake in greased and floured stem pan at 325º for 50 minutes.

Glaze

Bring the sugar and water to a boil and cook for one minute. Add 1 t. coconut extract. Pour over cake while hot.
