1 cup warm water
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup shortening

Dissolve yeast and sugar in water and let rise.

This is the secret of Gramma Bacon's buns. Sift your flour into large bowl, add sugar and shortening. Work with your hands until mixture resembles course cornmeal. Then add 2 1/2 cups cold water dissolved yeast and knead until smooth. Grease the bowl and put your dough in it. Cover tight as you can, put in fridge. Next morning punch dough down, put in fridge until about 4:00 p.m. Take out and make into buns, let rise about 2 hours and bake in quick oven until brown(375º)

You may make only a dozen buns if you wish. Punch remainder of dough down again and put in fridge. This dough is good for 5 or 6 days.
