Toaster Strudels Recipe

2c flour
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
6T butter - soft
3/4 c milk

Chocolate Filling
2 1/2c sugar
5T cocoa powder
pinch of salt
1 1/4c butter - soft

Egg glaze
1 egg
1-2 t water

Oil for frying

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add milk until it comes together. Knead dough 20 times. Roll out dought 1/3-1/2" thick. Cut into circles 5 inches wide. Fill, seal edges with egg wash. Gently press to flatten. Cut 3 slits over top.

To pan fry: Heat medium sized pan on low. Add 1-2 T of oil. Saute 2-3 pans at a time until golden brown on each side about 3-4 minutes per side.

To bake: Preheat oven to 350º. Place pies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 25-30 minutes.

To Deep Fry: heat oil in heavy pot to 375º. Once hot add 1-2 pies at a time, fry 3-4 minutes until golden brown on each side.

To make toaster pastries: Preheat oven 350º
Divide dough in half, roll 1/8" thick. Cut into 4"x5" rectangles. Fill, use eggwas, place a second piece on top. Seal and prick holes.

Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Do not allow to brown. Cool. Place in sealable plastic bag. Toast when ready.

For chocolate filling: place into plastic bag, squish to combine, cut off corner and pipe onto prepared rectangle piece.
