2 pounds ground chuck
1-2 chopped onions
2-3 cloves of chopped garlic
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 12 oz. can tomato juice
3 tblsp chili powder (or more to taste)
1 1/2 tsp cumin
1 can kidney beans
3 tablespoons crisco shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Melt crisco in Dutch oven or deep pan: add meat and cook until brown and separates. Add hot water to cover. Saute onions and garlic in skillet, and add to meat. Add salt and pepper. Add tomato juice, and other spices. Mash kidney beans and add. (this thickens and flavors chili) Note: if you like beans in your chili, add another can of whole beans. Simmer until done.

I use a mini food processor to "mash" first can of beans.... I always add another can of whole beans to my batch!
