1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs beaten
1/2 c. milk
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp. vanilla
FROSTING:
1/4 c. margarine
2 c. powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, shortening, eggs and milk. Sift dry ingredients and blend into sugar mixture. Add vanilla. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 8 min. Remove from pan, cool and frost.

Doris Waite was one of the best cooks around. She was the milk lady at Emerson Elementary and it turned out that she was my best friend Betty's mom who I met at Stevens Junior High in the 7th grade.
