1/2 c. butter, softened and divided
1 tbs. Dijon mustard
6 (1/2 in. thick) slices bread
3/4 lb. thinly sliced black forest deli ham
3 slices muenster cheese (Swiss will work also)
3 large eggs
1/4 c. whole milk
Garnish-Confectioners sugar
Strawberry Jam (optional) Raspberry preserves work well also.

In a small Brown, combine 1/4 cup of butter and mustard. spread mixture evenly over one side of each bread slice. Divide ham evenly over three prepared slices of bread. Top each with one slice of cheese. Cover each with remaining bread slices, buttered side down, to make a sandwich.

In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs and milk.
In a large skillet, melt remaining 1/4 cup of butter.

Dip both sides of sandwich into egg mixture, letting excess egg drip off. Place sandwiches in hot skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side or until golden brown.

Sprinkle with confectioners sugar and serve with strawberry jam and potato chips.
