2 c. brown sugar
1 c. sorghum molasses mixed with 1 t. soda
1/2 lb. butter
7 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 cups jam
1 box seedless raisins ( 2 cups)
2 t. baking powder
2 t. cinnamon
2 t. nutmeg
2 t. allspice
2 1/2 c. flour (about)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add molasses, mixed with soda. Add eggs and jam. Mix thoroughly. Add raisins, milk and flavoring. Mix. Stir in flour and baking powder. Bake in three layer cake pans. No time was given.

If I don't have buttermilk, I use sweet milk and add about 2 t. of lemon juice or vinegar. (Note from Rhonda
