Saute the following ingredients:
1/2 C. margarine
1 C. quick- cooking barley
2 T. minced garlic
1 medium chopped onion
ADD: 1/2 c. slivered almonds
2 c. chicken broth
3 oz. can mushrooms ( or 3/4 to 1 c. fresh)
5 oz. water chestnuts drained and sliced

Directions:
Directions:
Add ingredients and continue to saute along with water from chestnuts & mushrooms.

Stir well. Put in casserole dish and cover.
Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour.
